This is the story of our journey to adopt our daughter and son from Ethiopia. As we enjoy parenthood we continue to rejoice in the trials, triumphs, and blessings that took us halfway around the world to our cherished children.
Pat, Your account was very moving. I am very impressed with your willingness to take the chance financially and emotionally, to adopt a baby from the other end of the world. It depicts your openness. The fact that she is from my part of the continent is even more special. I was very touched by your response to the question that asked if you would tell Addison if she's adopted. You said it was "her story to tell." That was sweet. I'm certain you'll be very fine parents! I'm very proud of both of you! ~Christine
It was such a joy to watch this video and share in your journey. Parenthood clearly fits you both like a warm glove and Addison is absolutely beautiful. I cannot WAIT to meet her (and you). Your smile is like a light in every picture! Laura
My sister Karen, my mother and I watched this together while I was visiting Kansas City. I am so moved by your experience. Addison is truly a gift from God. I knew it when I met her last month while visiting. You all are very blessed!
Thank you so much for sharing your story. Addison is truly a blessing. My husband and I are African American and plan to adopt and Ethiopian child. He’s currently deployed to Iraq; we hope to begin the process when he returns. Again, many thanks for sharing your story, it really touched my heart and provided my husband with additional insight. Adoption is a wonderful thing!
What a beautiful story!!! I actually started crying when I viewed your video maontage. I wish you many years of happiness and love with your beautiful child.
Absolutely LOVED your video. What a beautiful family you have, and your child is so loved by all! Thanks for sharing. Pat in California mom to Sentayehu (10) and Augustine (8), both adopted from Ethiopia
My husband and I were so touched by your adoption blog. I was born and raised in Ethiopia and continue to go back frequently. I was honored by the way you spoke about my home country. I loved the detailed account because I recognized so many of the places you mentioned. You both are great writers, we felt as if we were on the journey with you. But most of all, I was really touched by the care and thought you put into making sure Addison's name was something that reflected her origins. That says a lot about your character and I know Addison is very blessed to have parents such as yourselves! Getta Yebarkachu (May the Lord Bless you)
My first visit to your site was yesterday and I am back again. Addison is so beautiful. My husband and I are starting to complete adoption papers and I am drawn to Ethiopian adoption. I will show him your blog this evening. What a blessing she is to your life and you and your husband have been a blessing to others by allowing us to share in your story.
